Description: Join the Hamline University NCORE Team for a day-long exploration of the race, race relations, racism and racial justice. More specifically, our aims are to create a diverse learning community that: (1) examines “race” as a concept and lived experience through the leans and evolution of whiteness; (2) empowers allies about the complexities of race and racism to help them see a path to understanding and interrupting white supremacy; and (3) educates about counter-narratives and anti-oppressive actions to address racism and white supremacy. As in the past, participants will hear from speakers and have opportunities in both large group and small group discussions and activities to: think about their own assumptions, experiences and identities; engage in self-reflection and conversation with others about race and class; and learn strategies for resisting and interrupting systems of oppression.
