First-year seminars

First-year students at Hamline explore one specific topic and develop critical thinking, discussion, and reading and writing skills through the first-year seminar program.

Study abroad

Opportunities for study abroad abound, from month-long January and May term courses in countries including Great Britain, Jamaica, and Spain, to semester- and yearlong experiences throughout the globe.

Collaborative research

Hamline funds summer collaborative research opportunities for talented students in any major to conduct original research while working one-on-one with a professor.

Service learning and social justice

Hamline students contribute more than 14,000 hours of service annually through Hamline's leadership development programs, the Office of Service Learning and Volunteerism, and the Hancock-Hamline University Collaborative Magnet School.

The Hamline Plan

The Hamline Plan provides students with a set of flexible, goal-oriented skills and experiences that prepare them to enter the workforce, go on to graduate school, engage in volunteer service, and lead full, balanced lives.
